Firstly, I´d like to thank everyone for their entries. You posted really beautiful and interesting poems and it was hard to chose only three winners. I´m also glad that all three themes inspired you and we got lot of entries for each theme.

And now, without more dalays, let me introduce you the winners:

1. place: Frozen heartIn school, we learned anatomy
on sheep's hearts
fresh from the fridge.
Three to a heart,
jostling, crowing, probing:
"Here's the atrium,
the ventricle,
the aorta."
Later, I learned how to pack hearts
with sterile ice,
into a portable cooler.
We drove through the city
like madmen.
And people lived,
because of us.
People
(a 40 year old salesman)
(a mother of three)
(a professor of chemistry)
(a wee toddler)
lived.
Amazing, really.
Amazing how
this small lump of muscle
nestled in ice
could get blood through
an athlete
a doctor
a world leader
yet fit in
what was essentially
a beverage cooler.

2. place: Puppy Love
He never found that one person who cared
and suffered hardships too much to bear.
His Life full of let downs, one after another,
his emotions shut down and quickly smothered.
Always down on his luck, he took all the blows,
he started to think that's just how it goes.
No chance of love, he didn't care to start
and rumours told of his frozen heart.
Then two big brown eyes,
and one cold nose,
it's tail it wagged.
as him it chose.
This faithful friend
came to his side
it warmed his heart,
lit within a fire.
With a playful yelp,
gave one soft paw.
His heart of ice
began to thaw.
Two lost souls found love to share,
so for a puppy's love just beware

3. place:  The NightmareThe darkness
It begins with darkness
It is a void
It devours all in its path
It pursues me
I run
I run from the darkness
I run with all my might
I run incessantly
Through the endless world around me
But there is nowhere to go
I stop
The darkness slowly closes in on me
I lack any reason to go further
There is nothing for me here
Why fight when there is nothing to fight for?
Arms outstretched, I let the darkness consume me
The cage
The darkness forms a cage around me
An infinite cage
A cage with no walls
The darkness speaks to me
Whispering ominously
I listen
I listen to its words
I listen to its stories
I listen to its lies
Fear, sorrow, regret, guilt, loneliness
I let my emotions constrict me
The torment
I cannot leave this cage
But I do not want to leave
Even though I cannot get out
Nothing else can get in
Here I am alone
Here I am safe
The nightmare
This is my nightmare
My never-ending nightmare
A nightmare called reality
My reality
I
